My artist training began at an early age when I received private instruction from a local professional artist, Ruth Duke, in rural East Texas. Her instruction formed my initial eye and appreciation for the subtlety of color and form which can be found in nature. Throughout the 1960's, I continued to study at a studio on her farm. While my basic skills grew in composition, color, perspective; her most important teaching was enhancing my ability to see and gain greater internal awareness. I later studied Art at the University of Texas at Austin before choosing to get my Business Degree.

Following college, I settled in the Dallas area. During the fifteen years, my wfe, Janelle an I lived there. I developed a strong appreciation for Southwestern artist and style. My work has and continues to be influenced by the vivid color and often impressionistic style of Southewestern Art. While in Dallas, I exhibited and sold work through a local gallery in Plano.

Twenty years ago, I was transferred to Memphis. While my career limited my time for painting dramatically, it did afford me the opportunity to travel globally. I utilized the opportunity to visit many of the most noted art museums in America and Europe. I have found this to be invaluable in shaping my personal art style.

In 2005, I left the business world to follow my desires to experience nature and the outdoors more fully and expressing the world as I see it through my art. Art now represents a significant part of my life and enjoyment. I am exhibiting my work at Fountain Art Gallery.

As you view my work, I hope you will sense the emotion of the message which I am attempting to convey. From serenity to vibrancy, style is but a tool of communication. I utilize both impressionism and realism as appropriate for th subject matter. As when I began, nature is often my main source of inspiration.
